Temporal Incarceration: the brawling swimmer

A very good friend of a friend, Magda is an Aussie Competitive Swimmer on the amateur end of the sport. She attended Cooking School in New York during the winter of 2008 and met shortly thereafter working a cocktail party.

A robust and high energy creature, we often argued the theory of "how to properly cook hot foods with sour cream" endlessly. After completing her courses, she and my friend flew to Greece to compete in a semipro women’s competition.

During the elimination rounds, an aquatic scuffle broke out in the pool. It appears the swimming lanes had not been properly roped off and the competitors (from time to time) would slap and kick each other in the process. Furthermore, the athletic chemistry between these two gals was a disaster from the jump.

In the end, one swimmer was treading bloodied water as the result of a broken nose. The other (Magda) was led off by the police (αστυνομία), shortly after emerging from the pool. Upon her return to freedom, she raised both her arms like a true Olympian, praised Zeus for his intervention bearing an emotionally detached grin and a broken tooth!

May the Gods have mercy on us all…
